Minister of Music (Organist and Choir Director)

St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church ~ Boca Grande, FL

$30,000 - $35,000 per year (part-time)

 

St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Boca Grande, FL, seeks a part-time, contracted Minister of Music (Organist and Choir Director). One service a week May 1st – Dec. 31st and two services a week Jan. 1st – April 30th.  Additional required services for Feast Days (example: Christmas, Holy Week and Easter). Availability for funerals and mutually agreed upon weddings (separate remuneration for these).

 

Director will be responsible for partnering with the Rector in mission and ministry to lead and develop the music program of the parish. Primary obligations include making music selections (in collaboration with the Rector), all worship accompaniment, leading the congregation in the musical elements of worship, and leading one adult choir November – April, including coordinating and conducting rehearsals. Current choir rehearsals are on Wednesdays 4:00-5:30 pm.

 

St. Andrew’s is an island parish that enjoys a winter influx of parishioners – and quieter summer cycle. It is an active parish with a choir that fluctuates between 12-28 people depending on the time of year. The current organ is a tracker organ. However, we are in the process of purchasing a new 2-3 manual digital or hybrid organ.

 

Ideal candidates should be familiar with Episcopal liturgical tradition, comfortable with various liturgical styles, and open to adapting to fit the needs of the congregation. Experience with both the organ and directing an adult choir preferred. Compensation range is $30,000 to $35,000 per annum, commensurate with experience. Contract allots 8-10 hours per week, with two Sundays of paid vacation. There is a budget for music, guest musicians and supplies.
